Anyhow, much to my surprise, a couple of bull elk came by within hours to feast on this autumn pumpkin buffet. They hadn't finished eating when several deer joined the feast. Made for some great fun watching from both indoors and outdoors.

Pumpkin Eaters
With Halloween over, it was time to get rid of our old jack-o-lanterns. Rather than throw them into the trash, I put them out next to the house for the wildlife. Well, actually, I had fun tossing them up as high as I could and watching them splat down, breaking into pieces in the process. Guess I can understand why teen aged vandals get so much pleasure from smashing pumpkins.

Fifteen Inches Of Fresh Snow. October26,2011
This was the first really big dump of the season. Karen and I were up early and excited about the snowfall. After our morning coffee and oatmeal, we went out to shovel the drive. Thanks to the help of good neighbor Jack and his snow blower, the job was fast and fun. Mid-afternoon we took a drive into the park just to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
